ROCHESTER, NY (WENY) - A Corning man has pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges.

53-year-old Kevin Theil was accused of having more than 300 images of child pornography on his laptop between 2013 and December 2016. Theil received the images over the internet. Some of the images depicted prepubescent minors and violence. He was arrested in February.

In November 2016, a cooperating witness told Ithaca Police she knew a man from Corning who had a sexual interest in children. She told officers Theil showed her naked images of young girls, about seven or eight years old, on his iPad. The cooperating witness also said Theil admitted to her he had previously sexually abused his niece on multiple occasions when she was approximately 14 years old. According to the cooperating witness, Theil asked her to facilitate a sexual encounter with a minor.

Law enforcement searched Theil's home in Corning and his lake house in Hammondsport in December 2016. They found 367 images of child pornography on Theil's laptop.

The FBI, NYSP, the Ithaca Police Department, and the Steuben County Sheriff's Office were all involved in the investigation.

Theil is scheduled to be sentenced on December 21st.
