UPDATE 2:10PM:

Police have identified the suspect in a carjacking in Corning and a home invasion in Big Flats.

The Chemung County Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Mansfield resident Curtis Burrows attempted to abduct a woman at gunpoint near Lando's in Corning around 8:30pm. She was able to get away without being harmed. Burrows allegedly stole the women's vehicle and drove to a relative's home in East Corning but left shortly after.

According to the Sheriff's office, Burrows crashed the stolen car on Jolley Way in Steuben County, near the Chemung County line. Burrows allegedly approached another, but homeowners saw he had a gun and notified law enforcement.

It is believed Burrows fled on foot. Just after 9:00 p.m., Corning Police along with NYSP, Steuben County Sheriff's Office and Chemung County Sheriff's Office searched a residential development on Jolley Way, which is located off of Goff Road in East Corning. During the search, NYS K-9 and a NYSP helicopter were used in an attempt to find Burrows in a wooded area.

Burrows allegedly ran away and ended up at a home on Reasor Hollow Road in Big Flats. Police say he forced his way into the home and confronted the homeowners. Burrows allegedly shot one of the residents, 60-year-old Timothy Webster, stole a set of truck keys and stole a truck.

Webster's wife called 9-1-1. Sheriff's Deputies and State troopers responded to the scene. Deputies were able to get a description of the stolen vehicle and shared that information with all area law enforcement agencies, as well as Pennsylvania State Police.

Police say Burrows was located near his home on Route 6 in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. Burrows allegedly drove off in the stolen truck when he noticed law enforcement in the area. Burrows allegedly crashed the truck. Burrows ran from the crash on foot. Police say he was picked up by a passerby. According to the Sheriff's Office, Burrows asked the driver to take him to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro because he had been injured in a car accident. That driver called law enforcement after dropping Burrows at the hospital.

Burrows was taken into custody by Wellsboro Police without incident at the hospital.

Webster died as a result of his gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
