ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Chemung County held a public hearing about a proposal to bring Lyft to the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport.
The meeting was to request authorization to allow Lyft to operate as a transportation business out of the airport.
The agreement would allow Lyft to pick-up passengers at the airport.
Under the agreement, Lyft will pay the county a rate of two-dollars for every pick-up.
This would not affect drop-offs.
"It does offer another alternative and the rest of the country is pretty much, they're all offering it and it's becoming something that the rest of the country is accustomed to and we look forward to making this offer to customers at the airport," said aviation director, Bill Hopper.
The agreement for the county and Lyft is set for one year.
The proposal will go in front of the legislature next week.
So far, Uber has not to an agreement with the airport.
