CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) - The Wineglass Marathon has a new title sponsor.
Marathon officials and the Guthrie Clinic announced a five-year partnership Thursday. Both organizations say it highlights their commitment to community-focused health and wellness.
Guthrie has sponsored the medical tent at the finish line for years, but officials from both organizations felt it was the perfect time to take it a step further.
"It's our chance to give back to the community," says Donald Phykitt, Primary Care Medical Director for Sports Medicine. "It really aligns with the mission that we have, as far as increasing the health of the community, and showing off the awesome place that we have to offer in the area."
This year, the marathon donated about $80,000 back into the community. The money went to a variety of organizations, including the Red Cross, school organizations, and other not-for-profit organizations.
Registration opens on December 1st for the 2018 Marathon, Half-marathon, and Corelle 5K.
