BATH, NY (WENY) -- Community members in the Village of Bath kicked off December with the Spirit of Christmas!

The Central Steuben Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual event, which offers free holiday fun for the family.

"Everyone needs some of this Christmas spirit! We don't want to leave a single soul out on this. This is a wonderful time of the year and we like to have everyone come out and enjoy it. It's just a great time of year," says Mayor Bill von Hagn.

From food and hot coco to carolers and sleigh-rides, and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus, the entirely free event is designed for the whole family.

"It's the kids. It's the kids seeing Santa, the excitement. They come and they have a great time and to just see the excitement on their face to see Santa...that's what it's all about," says Bill Collmer, Co-President of the Central Steuben County Chamber of Commerce.

The event also offered a petting zoo, face painting, free books from the Teacher's Union, games and more.

Organizers say they appreciate all of the local sponsors who help make the event possible.
