PHOENIX, AZ -- Three people including two children were hospitalized following a multiple-vehicle crash Monday morning, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Just after 7 a.m., Phoenix police responded to the crash involving a dump truck and an SUV near 51st Avenue and Broadway Road.
According to Phoenix police, a dump truck was traveling northbound when it collided with an SUV that was traveling eastbound on Broadway Road.
Police say the woman who was driving the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Two children, ages 7 and 9, were inside the SUV when the crash occurred, according to Phoenix fire.
Both children were transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital in extremely critical condition.
According to Phoenix police, 51st Avenue is closed at Broadway Road north and south of the river bottom due to the investigation.
Police say the closure is expected to last for the next few hours.
The truck driver stayed on scene and was cooperative, according to Phoenix police.
Authorities say there were no signs of impairment.
