ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - The City of Elmira has released its proposed 2018 budget.
City Manager Mike Collins presented the budget Friday morning. It comes in around $32.3 million. The city is proposing a 17% property tax increase. That comes to an increase of about $15 per month for a home valued at $50,000.
Collins says the city has been looking for ways to decrease spending city-wide. The city is also continuing to explore shared services opportunities with the county to help reduce costs.
