ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Food Bank of the Southern Tier held their Community Food Distribution on Saturday.
The food bank hosts the event to help give food to those who need it in the community.
The "drive-thru" food pantry had volunteers delivering things like produce, dairy items and nonperishable goods directly to residents' cars.
Organizers say the event brings in anywhere between three to four hundred households around the Southern Tier.
"Our goal is to help families who are in need," said Food Bank of the Southern Tier Volunteer Coordinator, Jennifer Burbank. "We serve about sixteen thousand people a week. We have lots of people who are making tough choices this time of year about their food dollars and we just want to make sure that we're helping them the best way we can."
The food bank holds the community food distribution quarterly.
The event is free and open to the public.
