CAMPBELL, N.Y. (WENY) - A registered sex offender in Steuben County is facing charges for allegedly advertising to teach kids karate at his home.

36-year-old Vernon Vanzile, of Campbell, is a registered level 3 sex offender. He's charged with failing to register or verify as a sex offender and failure to notify DCJS of Change of Internet or internet identifiers.

Police say Vanzile was advertising to teach martial arts to children in his home. According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, their investigation revealed Vanzile had several internet profiles on social media and other internet sites.

As a registered level 3 sex offender, Vanzile is required to notify the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Steuben County Sheriffs Office of this information. He allegedly failed to do so.

Vanzile is being held in the Steuben County Jail without bail. He will appear in court next month.
