Nursing Home Residents And Staff Calling For Medicaid Change

Posted: Updated:

ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- Residents and staff at a nursing home in Ithaca are calling for an increase in Medicaid allowances.

That money goes towards needs like clothing and glasses but also pays for other things like books and hobbies.

State Senator Tom O'Mara will be at Cayuga Ridge on Thursday showing his support.

O'Mara says he'll take the calls back to Albany and present them to Governor Cuomo.

The current state Medicaid allowance has been sitting at $50 a month for more than 35-years.

At 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, O'Mara will be at the nursing and rehabilitation center on Trumansburg Road.
