"Super Saturday" draws crowds of shoppers to malls

BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Christmas weekend, many people are flocking to the malls to get in some last minute holiday shopping.

"Super Saturday" is expected to be one of the biggest shopping days of the year since Black Friday.

Many stores are also offering extended hours and special sales to help draw in more customers.

But as residents are finishing up their shopping, local stores are doing their best to help keep up with the foot traffic.

"We've had a lot of people from the time we opened our store today," said Tina's Hallmark Manager in the Arnot Mall, Jamie Olcott. "A lot of blankets going out. I think people are expecting it to be a nice cold winter, so they're buying Mom lots of blankets. We also have our Tervis's which have been a top seller. People have been very gracious and understanding. We've had two registers, they've been constantly going from the time we've opened the door. Just ringing, ringing, ringing."

The National Retail Federation predicts about one hundred and twenty six million consumers will have hit the stores for "Super Saturday".
