BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Thousands of households around the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport were without power Tuesday afternoon after an incident involving power lines.
A firefighter on-scene did confirm the incident was a rescue mission.
Initial scanner reports came in around 2:00 pm of a utility bucket that was tangled in power lines just off Airport Road. Several residents reported the power in their homes flickered around the same time.
According to NYSEG, nearly two-thousand residents experienced some sort of power outtage as emergency crews worked to resolve the issue.
The company says they expected most of the power to be restored around 4:30 this afternoon. However outtage maps show there are still hundred of people without power.
First responders say no one was injured in the incident ..
