St. James Mercy Hospital Issues Visitor Restrictions

Posted: Updated:

Hornell, N.Y. (WENY)-- Due to an increase in influenza in the region, St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell is issuing a restriction on visitation.

Effective today, no more than two visitors plus one designated caregiver/support person may be present in a patient's room at any time. Also, no one under the age of 14 is allowed inside the hospital. Finally, no visitors with symptoms of fever, cough, body aches, or a sore throat may enter the Hospital; they are invited to visit after being symptom-free for 24 hours.

St. James officials encourage all area residents to be prepared for flu season by getting an influenza vaccination through their primary care provider, pharmacy, or other venue.

The restriction will be in place until hospital officials deem it safe to return to normal visitor operations.
