Arnot Health enacting visitor restrictions due to flu activity

Posted: Updated:

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Arnot Health is enacting visitor restrictions at all of its hospitals due to flu activity.

The restrictions apply to Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.

The restrictions include:

  • No more than 2 visitors plus 1 designated caregiver/support person per patient may be present in patient rooms at any time
  • No one under the age of 14 may visit the hospital
    • Exception: In Maternity units only, healthy siblings of any age are permitted to visit healthy newborns.
  • If you have a fever, cough, body aches, or a sore throat, or if you have had contact with anyone who had those symptoms within the past 4 days, postpone your visit until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

Arnot officials say they understand the restrictions may be inconvenient and will remove them when the flu is no longer widespread in the area.
