ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Chemung County held a special meeting Monday night.
County Executive Tom Santulli gave a presentation with the findings of the recent Center for Government Research (CGR) report on shared services and the impact of the new sales tax formula.
Recently, there had been some discrepancies between the City of Elmira and Chemung County regarding that report.
As WENY reported Friday, Elmira officials said they met with county personnel to go over the numbers and progress had been made.
Santulli explains he wanted to hold the presentation because he felt it was important.
"I was offended because there was a statement that said that they were loosing $2.9 million and they are not. That's all. So I think I have a right, and I think anyone has a right, to be a little offended by a statement like that. It's big money, and it sends a wrong signal to the community. That was not true. That being said, we'd meet tomorrow to try to move forward," Santulli says.
The County Executive also added there are plans for the county to meet with city and state personnel later this week to discuss the financial situation and potential future of shared services.
