Corning, N.Y. (WENY)-- It will be marble madness at the Corning Museum of Glass this weekend.
On Sunday, CMOG will host the 3rd annual Marvelous Marble Day at the museum. The National Marble Tournament king and queen will inaugurate the event with a glass ribbon cutting inside the amphitheater at 10 o clock. There will be marble activities all day, including live glass marble making demonstrations, marble game tutorials, and marble scavenger hunt throughout the gallery. Organizers say the event is meant to offer something new to museum goers.
"I think it will be a lot of fun. This time of year we're looking for things that can keep us active but don't require us to be home getting cabin fever, and I feel like this has always been such a great way to meet a lot of new people in town, and a good way to connect them to the museum in ways they might not have seen possible before," says Troy Smythe, the Education and Interpretation Supervisor at the Corning Museum of Glass.
Marvelous Marble Day is happening Sunday, February 18th from 9am to 5pm, and it's included in the price of admission to the museum. Marble collectors are invited to bring their collection to show it off.
