ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Three members of the Elmira Police Department have new titles and responsibilities after getting promotions Friday.

Newly-minted Captain, John Perrigo, has been with the department since 2003. He will be the Commanding Officer of the C Platoon evening shift.

Lieutenant Zachary Stewart has served with the Elmira Police since 2005. He previously worked as a Chemung County Sheriff's Deputy and a Horseheads Village Police Officer.

Sergeant Christopher Osiecki was hired by the Elmira Police Department in 2008. He is in charge of the EPD Police Aviation Unit.

Elmira Police Chief Joseph Kane says all three are well deserving of their new titles.

"It gets us going in the right direction to finally make the promotions and then move forward and fulfill the roles they are assigned to. These guys are the ones who are going to implement our service to the community and supervise the officers who are assigned to different posts," says Kane.

He says they'll be starting their new positions immediately.
