IPD Needs Your Help in Graffiti Incident

Posted: Updated:

Ithaca, N.Y (WENY) - The Ithaca Police Department is asking for your help in a graffiti incident.

At around 10:30 am yesterday, police responded to a call at the Ithaca Skate Park regarding a graffiti report. When officers arrived, they found spray-paint graffiti containing hate speech and racial epithets on the skating structures and sidewalks.

Ithaca police Chief Pete Tyler responded to the incident saying quote: “We take this despicable act very seriously. I have ordered the officers under my command to get to the bottom of this and bring to justice those who are responsible. This hate speech does not represent Ithaca as a whole or the men and women of the Ithaca Police Department in particular. This of course is all made worse by the fact that that it was done at a skate park, a place that children play and grow and flourish. I am asking for the public’s help in identifying the person(s) responsible”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department at 607-272-9973.
