ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Local town officials from all across New York state are heading to Manhattan for meetings that will feature discussions with some of the state's top elected officials.
State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman are the featured speakers during Monday morning's general session of the Association of Towns 2018 annual meeting.
On Tuesday morning, fellow Democrat Chuck Schumer, the U.S. Senate minority leader, will address the gathering.
Town officials will be discussing various issues including how Governor Andrew Cuomo's response to the federal tax overhaul will impact local governments. There's particular concern about how the governor's charitable contribution proposal included in his recently released state budget amendments would work at the local level.
