Posted: Updated:

ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- If you want to take a break from the cold and snow, Family Reading Partnership of Chemung Valley may have just what you're looking for.

On Saturday, families can 'Blast Off With A Good Book' at Book Fest 2018. Every year Family Reading Partnership of Chemung Valley brings parents and children together, getting them excited about reading. And this year is no exception.

Children of all ages will have a chance to learn about stars and constellations, thanks to the staff of Corning Community College. They're bringing their portable Star Lab planetarium to the event. Giving little ones the chance to explore the universe. Elmira College will also be on hand, performing a play and reader's theater for everyone in attendance.

Authors Tim O'Shei, Matt Chandler, and Kevin Coolidge will be at the event talking to children interested in writing. And there will also be additional activities provided the CCLD Bookmobile, Tanglewood Nature Center, and The Bright Red Bookshelf.

The event 'blasts off' at Diven School in Elmira on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and goes until 2:00 p.m.
