ADDISON, N.Y. (WENY) -- Congressman Tom Reed made stops all around the 23rd district to listen to the concerns of his constituents. Over the weekend, Reed held town hall meetings in Baldwin, Addison and Almond. Residents turned out to express their concerns about gun control, the National Riffle Association and tax reform. With it being the first town hall meetings Reed has held since the Parkland shootings in Florida, discussions got a little heated at times. But for Reed, he's glad to have that open line of communication.
"It's good to get your passions engaged," said Congressman Tom Reed. "It's good to show energy and I showed some probably during the town hall because that's what we need more of. We need more people getting engaged, not disengaged. That will kill us as a democracy if people say, "You know what? I'm not going to participate anymore. It doesn't make any difference. That is the downfall for America's future. We need people participating."
As of now, Reed doesn't have any future dates set for more town hall meetings.
