Waverly, N.Y. (WENY) -- You are lucky if you have a generator on hand as New York State Electric and Gas has been trying their best to keep up, but the heavy, wet packed snow resulted in thousands of customers without power.

Not to mention a handful without power due to wind damage to make things more difficult. This was the case for a Waverly couple we were able to talk to on how they were dealing with the ordeal. Maggie Barnes told us, "Trying to get through to NYSEG, to tell them that we had wires down, it took two days to get word to them."

"They knew we were out of power, but their system would not allow me to report that we had wires down. When I called them number you went through the whole automated thing, and then it hung up on you."

"And I called seven times, and could never get through to tell them we had wires down. The crews have been great, and we've had a couple folks come up here and tell us, we know you're here we're going to get to you as soon as we can. The crews are terrific. The system by which you get word to them, needs some improvement."

If you can, let us know on our Facebook page if you are still without power this week.
