TIOGA COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- Some parents in Tioga County Pennsylvania are up in arms because they say the school didn't make them aware of a potential threat until the school day was over.
In a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, R.B. Walter Elementary School said the building was searched by police after the potential threat. The post goes on to say "the threat was investigated by school officials and the police." And "no viable threat was determined."
School officials say staff followed emergency protocol and the investigation is ongoing.
Still, some parents are angry because they weren't notified sooner.
WENY received a number of messages on our Facebook page. One parent says they weren't notified until their children were home saying "this school should be shut down until it's over." Another parent said they "were not notified until well after school was let out."
We've reached out to the school for comment but have yet to hear back.
