It's the 25th anniversary of the '93 blizzard or what many have dubbed "the Storm of the Century". The storm hit the Twin Tiers hard with many areas picking up over 2 feet of snow. The strong winds also resulted in considerable drifting. The combination of the existing snow pack, newly fallen snow and strong winds resulted in snow drifts 8 feet high. The storm is still this country's most costliest winter storm on record. 270 people died nationally because of the storm. The storm had a low pressure of 960 millibars...comparable to a category 3 hurricane.
