PINE VALLEY, N.Y. (WENY) -- A former teacher at Notre Dame High School is running to represent Chemung County's 1st legislative district.

Anthony Pucci announced his campaign earlier this evening at Yee Old Hickory House in Pine Valley. He is challenging the current incumbent John Pastrick, and is seeking to improve upon things such as local budgets in the first district, as well as community involvement in local government.

He told us, “I believe we need a legislator who is accessible, who is willing to listen to the residents, who is going to be able to communicate with them about what's going on.”

“To give them a chance to have input, to feel as though they are part of this process. I think too often people have become disillusioned with government, even on this local level, and I believe that I can help change that environment.”

Pucci, who is running on the democratic ticket, says he has been a resident of Chemung County since 1974.
