City judge faces felony charge for trying to buy shotgun

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A city court judge in western New York has been charged with a felony after authorities say she tried to buy a shotgun in violation of her probation for a drunken driving conviction.
Rochester Judge Leticia Astacio was charged Tuesday with attempted criminal purchase of a weapon. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office was called to a Dick's Sporting Goods store in the Rochester suburb of Henrietta last week when a clerk reported Astacio had tried to buy a shotgun.
Astacio was arraigned Tuesday before an Ontario County Court judge and released, to appear in Henrietta Town Court May 3.
Astacio hasn't heard cases since her February 2016 DWI arrest. On Facebook Saturday, Astacio said she gets death threats and her sister was the one who tried to buy the shotgun.
