Watkins Glen, N.Y. (WENY)-- Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! Opening weekend at Watkins Glen International is just days away, and everyone is invited to take part in the festivities.
The activities kick off early Saturday (April 14th,2018) morning at 8:00am for the Arc of Schuyler Grand Prix Run at Watkins Glen International. This is a 5K running race on the actual Watkins Glen racetrack. Registration opens at 7:00am. Early registration for adults is $25, or $30 come race time. Registration for children 13 and under is $15 no matter what day you register. Following the Grand Prix Run, the track at Watkins Glen International is open for you to take your own car out and experience it for yourself. The gates open at 9:00am, and laps will begin at 10:00am. Ticket sales will go until 3:00pm, with the final laps at 4:00pm. Drivers must have a valid drivers license, no motorcycles or box trucks are allowed, and occupants must wear a seat belt at all times. For three paced laps around the track, the cost is $25. All proceeds will go to the R.A.C.E. Foundation to benefit this year's WGI Ambassador, Ryan Berwick. The goal is to purchase Ryan a new state-of-the-art, standing wheelchair in time for him to walk across the stage at his high school graduation from Adirondack Central School in June.
Tickets are available only at the gate. Commemorative event t-shirts and souvenirs are available for purchase. For more information, click here: https://www.theglen.com/Tickets-Events/Events/2018/OW.aspx.
