Color Run Raises Money For Local School

Posted: Updated:

Addison, N.Y. (WENY) - It was a colorful morning on Saturday as students, faculty and members of the public laced up their running shoes and took part in a color run.

The Addison Valley Early Childhood School hosted their first, "My School Color Run", held at Tuscarora Elementary school. The run was an untied 5K starting and ending at the elementary school. Over 100 participants of all ages passed through the vibrant color zones, making it a "colorful experience" all for a great cause.

"All of the proceeds go to the Valley Early Childhood School. We're unique because we're the only school district actually in the area that offers a full per-school program that is free to all residents. We have seven full classrooms, which equals out to about 100 preschool students, so all of this money goes to help make fundraisers. As well as bring people in that are speakers, assembly's and just kind of different experiences that they can have," said Emily Wright, Organizer of the Color Run and preschool teacher at Valley Early Childhood School.

All together the color run raised over a thousand dollars. The Addison Valley Early Childhood School says they plan to continue the color run for the coming years.
