Corning, N.Y. (WENY)-- A wanted parole absconder was caught by Corning Police last week, but not before leading them on a foot pursuit.

On April 18th, Corning Police officers spotted 20-year-old Luke Gallagher walking in the area of Denison Parkway and Walnut Street. When police ordered him to stop, Gallagher allegedly took off running across multiple lanes of traffic, then through a Gaffer District business while trying to get away. Police eventually caught up with him on Market Street and placed him under arrest. According to Police, Gallagher was in possession of crack cocaine and powder cocaine. Police also say Gallagher discarded a quantity of cocaine while running away, but officers recovered the drugs.

Gallagher was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Two Counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Resisting Arrest. He was transported and secured at the Steuben County Jail, and will reappear in City of Corning Court later this week.
