NYSP capture Corning man on child sex abuse charge

UPDATE 5/11/2018: According to police records, Bryan E. Griswold was arrested by New York State Police on Thursday. He was sent back to Steuben County Jail. He was charged with felony sex abuse with the child being under 13-years-old.


PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State Police in Painted Post are looking for a Corning man accused of sexually abusing a child.

Troopers say 48-year-old Bryan E. Griswold is wanted for felony sex abuse in the 1st degree. Griswold allegedly had sexual contact with a child under 13-years-old.

Troopers say the discovered the alleged abuse after investigating Griswold for a different charge. Back on April 29th, he was arrested on charges of unlawful surveillance. Police say he used a cell phone to take video of a 12-year-old girl's genitals under a table at a restaurant.

Griswold was sent to the Steuben County Jail for that charge, but was released on April 30th after he posted bail. He now as an active arrest warrant for the child abuse charge.

Troopers also say that Bryan E. Griswold is the father of Bryan J. Griswold, also of Corning.

According to our records, Bryan J. Griswold was arrested back in 2009 for making child pornography with several young girls left in his care. At the time, 22-year-old Griswold was a former part-time employee at the Child Watch Center at the Corning YMCA.

Griswold admitted to downloading and sharing more than 600 images of child porn. He was sentenced in 2012 to seven years in prison.
