Ithaca Man Arrested for Alleged Arson, Domestic Charges

ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) – In the early morning hours of May 9, Ithaca Police Department officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Monroe Street regarding a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim and the suspect on scene.

Officers determined that during the dispute, suspect Woodrow Turner, 37, allegedly smashed several plates and glasses, threw a television and flipped over various furniture inside the apartment.

Turner also allegedly lit a plastic bag of towels on fire inside the apartment.

The victim extinguished the fire before police arrived.

Turner was arrested and transported to the IPD Headquarters for arraignment on the following charges:

  • Arson in the Fifth Degree
  • Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
  • Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree
  • Harassment in the Second Degree

Turner was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.

An order of protection was issued against Turner on behalf of the victim.
