MONTOUR FALLS, NY (WENY) -- The Amber Alert issued for a missing 15-day-old newborn child in Montour Falls has been canceled.

Around 8:30 p.m. officials with the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office say the infant was found safe.

State police in Geneva, NY tell WENY News, Gionna Harter was located in the City of Geneva by troopers.

The Amber Alert was issued around 2:15 p.m. Thursday after deputies say Gionna was taken by her mother, 31-year-old Katrina Harter

It is believed that Katrina took the newborn to avoid service of a Family Court Order that would transfer custody to another party.

The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the public for the many tips assisting in the investigation.

The following agencies actively assisted during the investigation: The Wayne and Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Geneva Police Department, The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, New York State Department of Corrections, and U.S. Border Patrol.
