Schuyler Co. Officials Oppose Seneca Co. Trash Incinerator

Posted: Updated:

SCHUYLER COUNTY (WENY) -- Schuyler County is the latest local government taking a stand against the proposed $365 million trash incinerator project at the former Seneca Army Depot in Seneca County.

On Monday, legislators in Schuyler County voted unanimously against the project citing environmental concerns, negative effects on agriculture and tourism, as well as local opposition from the Town of Romulus.

In related, but separate news, county officials unanimously resolved to support legislation from Senator Tom O'Mara and others which would help block the facility.

"Circular enerG" is the firm behind the proposed facility, which calls to haul more than 1,000 tons of trash to the site each day.
