Fire on Elmira's Southside sends three to hospital

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A house fire on Elmira's Southside is under investigation after a mother and two children were sent to the hospital Wednesday evening. The Elmira Fire Department says they were taken to the hospital just for evaluation.

The fire happened at 109 East Hudson Street around 6:40 p.m. Fire officials say they had to pull the mother and two children from the second floor when they arrived at the home. The cause is unknown, but firefighters suspect the fire started somewhere near the clothing dryer.

During the fire, first responders had to shut the street down Other than the three people taken to the hospital for a check up, there we no other injuries.
