ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – The Chemung County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in which a victim was shot.
According to police, on July 10 at approximately 1:28 a.m., deputies responded to Albert Street in the City of Elmira for reports of a gunshot victim.
According to the victim, the incident took place in the Town of Southport near the City Line.
Upon further investigation, it was learned the 19-year-old victim suffered what appeared to be a superficial gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was transported to the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment, where he remains in stable condition.
Investigators believe the shooting incident occurred at a separate unknown location and the victim went to the Albert Street address for assistance.
According to police, the victim was uncooperative with investigators pertaining to information on specifically where and how he suffered the gunshot wound.
The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Elmira Police Department.
