UPDATE: Victims of Horseheads Fatal Motorcycle Accident Identified

Horseheads, N.Y. (WENY)-- The victims of Tuesday night's fatal motorcycle accident in Horseheads have been identified.

     According to the Horseheads Police Department, the driver of the motorcycle was 43-year-old Mathew Matteson, while the passenger was identified as 42-year-old Harolyn Matteson, both of Elmira. Mathew was transported to the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, where he was pronounced dead. Harolyn as taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, where she was pronounced dead.

     The accident happened just before 6:00pm at the intersection of Westinghouse Road and Westlake Street in Horseheads, when a car collided with the motorcycle. As a result, the driver of the car, 18-year-old Caden Charnetski of Elmira, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While his Abilities are Impaired By Drugs. Passengers in the car sustained minor injuries as well.

     The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and additional charges against Charnetski are pending. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or could have additional information, are asked to contact the Horseheads Police Department at 607-739-5669.
