Town of Lindley honors veterans past and present

LINDLEY, N.Y. (WENY) -- The town of Lindley is honoring their hometown heroes in a unique way. In their town hall, you'll find pictures and names of veterans, both past and present, who are from Lindley. The project started as the town historian was putting pictures of past veterans on the wall, and decided to expand it. Now they have around three hundred names on their wall, with more to still be added. The whole process took about ten years to become what it is today.

"We love our vets and we want to recognize them and they have protected our freedoms and we just want them to know that," said Lindley Town Hall Historian, Karen Ballard. "We are very thankful for their service."

According to Ballard, it was a complete community effort to bring the wall to life.

"It was just truly a community effort," said Ballard. "I just can't thank the whole town enough for coming together and making this possible. It just gives me goosebumps to see the whole town come together. "

The town is still looking for more Lindley veterans to add to their wall. For more information on how your name, or the name of someone else, can be added to the wall, you can call the Lindley Town Hall at (607) 523-8816.
