Watkins Glen Italian American festival kicks off today

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) - The 39th annual Watkins Glen Italian American Festival kicks off today and ends on Sunday.

The festival is being held at Clute Park today starting at 1 pm. There will be Italian food, craft and gift vendors, live entertainment, amusement rides, bingo games and much more. Starting today there will be live entertainment from 4 till 7 featuring the Rusted Buck Bands, following Guilty Pleasure at 8. Folks can also enjoy bingo games in the Pavilion from 5 till 10. The festival is expected to close at 11, however, the Beer and Wine Garden can stay open until midnight. 

The festival will kick off again on Saturday at noon with a festival parade. There will be special appearances by the Grand Marshal, Tony Vickio, as well as, the festival prince, Tate Dilberto and festival princess, Arloween Loucks-Scuteri. The parade begins at 12th and Decatur St. and will go north on Decatur St. to 4th Street, then east on 4th St. to Clute Park. There will be a pasta eating contest at 3 pm as well as, bingo in the pavilion from 3 till 10. There will be live entertainment by the Ampersand Project from 4 till 7, following Rust at 7:30. The night will end with a fireworks show over Seneca Lake at 10:15 pm. 

The festival will return on Sunday at noon for its final day. There will be a new Family Fun area available for the whole family from 1 till 3 pm. There will also be live entertainment by Sam Pallet Band from 1 till 4 as well as, bingo in the pavilion from 1 till 5 pm. Judging for the 3rd annual Kenny Larson Memorial Motorcycle show begins at 3, the festival will close at 6.
