BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WENY) – Just one day after rejecting a plea deal in Broome County Court, 20-year-old Michael Roque has plead guilty in the stabbing death of fellow Binghamton University student Joao Souza.
Souza, a 19-year-old engineering student, was reportedly stabbed to death in an on-campus residence hall.
While a specific motive hasn't been revealed, university police say they believe it was a targeted attack.
Yesterday, Roque had rejected a plea deal for 20 years to life in prison; his charges, second degree murder, generally come with a sentence of 25 years to life.
Now, Roque will be sentenced on November 16.
