Elmira Resident Shot With Pellet Gun During Early Morning Home Invasion

Posted: Updated:

Elmira, N.Y. (WENY)-- Elmira Police are investigating an attempted home invasion robbery on Race Street early Tuesday morning.

Police say just before 2:00am, two suspects broke into a home on the 400 block of Race Street and demanded money. A physical disturbance between the suspects and residents in the home ensued, and the suspects ran from the home. On their way out though, one of the suspects fired two shots at the residents, and dropped a live round of ammunition. The other suspect also fired a shot, hitting one of the residents in the leg. Police say it was presumably a pellet gun, and the resident was uninjured.

The Elmira Police Department requests anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Elmira Police Department. The EPD was assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Department as well as the New York State Police.
