Best Buy hiring hundreds of seasonal workers for Nichols distribution center

NICHOLS (WBNG) -- If you’re looking for a temporary job this holiday season, Best Buy might be a company you want to take a look at.

Best Buy announced Thursday it is hiring around 500 seasonal positions at the company’s distribution center in Nichols.

“We know that’s the time that our customers will do a majority of their shopping so our volume in the building will increase exponentially and we need extra hands on board to help us get those packages to our customers,” said Best Buy Distribution Center Human Resources Manager Wendy Glanville.

Pay ranges from $12.75 to $13.75 per hour. The part-time positions would last to the end of 2018, the electronic retailer notes.

There is a chance it could lead to full-time employment.

“We always evaluate the staff that is in house and if we find that we have employees that have excelled during the peak season we will look to keep them on longer,” said Glanville.

The company is filling merchandise processor positions, which is responsible for fulfilling internet orders and shipping them to customers.

“It is a face paced environment,” said Best Buy Distribution Center Director of Operations John Lawrence. “We always look for somebody that can be safe, have a great attention to detail and quality. So we can send the proper product to the right customer and just a person who likes to work hard and have fun.”

Lawrence says you don’t need to have previous experience in a distribution center to get the job.

“We do train everybody that comes in and how to do the job,” he added.

Glanville is keeping a positive mindset the positions will be filled.

“We always hope for that,” she said. “We invite everyone to please apply.”

Applications can be filled out with AdeccoEmployment Solutions, and Kelly Services.
