WAYLAND, N.Y. (WENY) – Two people are behind bars following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a large amount of cocaine and crack in the town of Wayland.
According to New York State Police, 31-year-old Maurice Jenkins and an 18-year-old passenger – both from Rochester – were stopped Monday.
Police say they found 57 grams of crack, 20 grams of cocaine and marijuana inside their vehicle. Additionally, Jenkins was allegedly driving while under the influence of drugs and had a suspended driver's license.
Jenkins was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, driving while ability impaired and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.
The 18-year-old woman passenger was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
Jenkins was sent to the Steuben County Jail on $50,000 bail and the woman was sent to the same jail on $20,000 bail.
