Corning, NY (WENY) – Saturday night Hundreds of people lined Corning's Market Street last night for the 44th sparkle festival.
The festival featured talented vendors providing handmade crafts, such as winter hats and gloves, jewelry, and decorative signs. The shops and restaurants on Market street decorated their storefronts to make it appear festive for the holiday season. Corning's Sparkle festival is known for bringing the community out and celebrating a full day of holiday cheer that benefits the towns local businesses.
“We're a downtown that's filled with small independently owned businesses and we also have some major brands here in our downtown. Because of the people that show up and shop in our stores and dine in our restaurants and enjoy our many art galleries, it really helps our local economy. It's a very important part of the Crystal City Christmas Season here in Corning's Gaffer District,” said Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director for Corning's Gaffer District.
This year's sparkle event was sponsored by Centers Health care.
