WELLSBORO, PA (WENY) -- A well known annual Christmas tradition brought many people together in Tioga County of Pennsylvania, as this year's Dickens of a Christmas went off without a hitch.
Main street in Wellsboro was abuzz with so much activity and holiday joy, that you would think we were less than a week from Christmas, not in the first week of the month. The picturesque Pennsylvania town clearly isn't planning on taking a back seat to others in our region when it comes to kicking off the month of December right. From the wall to wall craft vendors, to some good looking eats, Dickens of a Christmas has so much to offer to offer the community.
On Main Street I spoke with Ken Means, one of the local resident's, who was also showing off his talent as a musician as well. He said, "This is Dickens of a Christmas, and this is either the 35th or 36th year. I'm part of the Catlin Hollow Brass."
"We get together every Christmas and stroll the streets and play Christmas Carols. We never know who is going to show up, so it's always interesting. However, it's always a good group and we have a blast doing it."
From the musicians, carolers, and vendors that made their way to Wellsboro for the unique event, essentially everything said to me was so positive and truly embodied the spirit of Christmas. Speaking of the vendors, those I talked to only had positive things to say about the town, including Arla's Primitive Crafts Owner Scott Swarts.
At his table he told me, "If you haven't experienced this town for this Dickens of a Christmas, you truly should. It's a very pleasant town to experience. However you want to describe this event. It's a very nice town and the people are very friendly."
