Two Steuben Co. Residents Face Welfare Fraud Charges in Separate Cases

Steuben County, N.Y. (WENY)-- Two Steuben County residents have been arrested for Welfare Fraud in two separate cases.

     On November 14th, Steuben County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 63-year-old Stanley McKee for allegedly failing to report income as required while receiving benefits from the Steuben County Department of Social Services. As a result of that, Police say McKee received benefits in the amount of $9,026 he was not eligible to receive. McKee was charged with two counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and one count of Grand Larceny. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.

     On November 29th, Steuben County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 54-year-old Chalice Colino for allegedly providing documents containing false information to the Steuben County Department of Social Services. Police say as a result, Colino received benefits in the amount of $116 she was not entitled to. Colino was charged with two counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and one count of Welfare Fraud. She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in court at a later date.

     The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office.
