Volunteers Gearing Up For Arctic League Packing Nights

Posted: Updated:

Elmira, N.Y. (WENY)-- With Christmas just over three weeks away, more than 600 volunteers will spend time at the Arctic League preparing Christmas packages for the nearly 3,000 Chemung County children in need.

For several nights throughout the month leading up to Christmas morning, more than 30 groups will participate in packing nights at the Arctic League Headquarters in Elmira. The 1st packing night is scheduled for Friday, December 7th at 7:30pm. Volunteers usually prepare packages for 100-125 families per session, taking less than an hour to complete. Volunteer groups for the first packing night include the Elmira Kiwanis Club, Head Start, and the United Baptist Church.

This year's bell ringer, Ava Waters, will be present to begin the process Friday night.
