Dozens of Dogs Rescued from Reported Puppy Mill

Posted: Updated:

STEUBEN Co., N.Y. (WENY) -- Dozens of dogs are on the mend, recovering after being rescued from a reported puppy mill.

According to Pawz & Purrz Animal Rescue, the Steuben County Sheriff's Office seized 32 dogs, six puppies and a kitten from a puppy mill in the Town of Howard.

A post on the organization's Facebook page says the animals were saved last Monday by the sheriff's office and the Canisteo Dog Shelter.

We're told the animals were taken in by a number of shelters including the Hornell and Yates Humane Societies, the Finger Lakes S.P.C.A., and Brittany Spaniel Rescue.

We did reach out to the sheriff's office for more information and are waiting to hear back.
