BATAVIA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A New York State Police Trooper was injured in a multi-car crash on the Thruway on Wednesday afternoon.

New York State Police say the Trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries. In a picture provided by police, the patrol car appears to be sandwiched among tractor trailers and other cars involved in the pileup. 21-vehicles were involved in the crash, including tractor trailers. At the time of the crash, tractor trailers and buses were banned from that portion of the Thruway due to winter weather conditions.

Police say the pileup happened around 2:00 p.m. at mile marker 382 in the eastbound lane. Traffic was diverted at Exit 48A (Pemboke) and Exit 48 (Batavia).

There's no word yet if any other driver was injured, and the crash is now under investigation.
