ELMIRA, NY (WENY) - Another Elmira College Girls Basketball standout is headed to play at the next level. Express Senior, Zaria Demember Shazer signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Marist College next year.

Demember Shazer was named the Section IV Class AA player of the year last season, and she also surpassed the 1,000 point milestone while playing a key role in the Express capturing the last 3 Section Titles.

Zaria will be playing for a stellar Marist program. The Red Foxes went 23-10 last season and 20-14 in 2017-'18, and competed for a MAAC Championship both years, clinching a berth to the Women's NIT in 2018.

WENY spoke with Demember Shazer after her signing, and she is nothing but thankful for this journey.

"This feels amazing" said Demember Shazer. "I am so grateful for all of my family and friends who contributed to this. I can't say that I did it alone because I didn't, but it's a great feeling and I'm really happy to be here. I feel like I made the right choice and it's definitely going to be a great fit. All of the hours that I put in the gym definitely show that I wanted this and I worked hard for it and my father really pushed me and knew what I could do. The division I level is something that I always wanted to get to."
