UPDATE (9/29) Elmira Police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting in the 500 block of West Second Street on Friday, September 25. 

Police say 18-year-old Jahrell Green was killed; a second victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing and police say no further information will be released at this time.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - One person is dead after a shooting in Elmira. The shooting happened in the 500 block of West Second Street around 10:10 Friday night. 

Once officers arrived on the scene, they found a man inside a car with gunshot wounds. Officers began life saving measures. Another shooting victim exited the house once officers arrived on the scene. Both victims were taken to the hospital. One of the victims died from his injuries. The other victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Investigation reveals the victim's car pulled into the driveway. According to a press release from the Elmira Police Department, a subject approached and started firing into the vehicle. Officers say the subject then fled into a "westerly direction on West Second Street."
